Due to increased number of passengers, and large amount of km's that are current fleet of riding cars are completing. We have decided to enbark on a couple of sets of new riding cars. These cars will be based on our succesfull well cars (see photo below), but will be 8 foot long.
We are standardising on a number of the parts to reduce the cost of up-keep, and to enable the direct swap of parts.

New Riding Cars
Adrian drilling the laser cut side frames ready for the plumber block bearings and then the bearings on the side frames.
Steve machining the stiffening beams where the bogie and turntables attach to the bottom to the each car.
With the standardisation of bogies, an order has been placed for the machining of the wheels. These have been order through a local CNC machining company - Preco Engineering http://www.preco.com.au/. Here is Dinh working away at the CNC lathe.
Due to some clever work, instead of three operations, the wheel is possible after two operations, as the scallop in the rear is able to hold the wheel for front facing and profiling
Frames completed with centre well. All joints have been welded
Working bee to construct the frames for four cars. All completed in the day.
